Jimin + Dara's Cambodian Wedding

Almost 7 years ago, I worked at Qzina Specialty Foods.  It was the best.  Every morning I arrived to the smell of chocolate and left home smelling like chocolate!  We distributed chocolate to many great bakeries, hotels, restaurants, and chocolate shops all over BC.  When Jimin was hired, I didn't like her.  It took a while, but eventually we spoke and once we passed that hurdle, it was allll goooood.  We have been friends ever since, staying in touch over social media.

I did not invite her to my wedding and I will never stop feeling bad about it.  I told her that it would only be fair for her to not invite me to hers.  That was our deal.  I was not invited to her wedding. I was hired to take the photos!

Their wedding was a two day celebration.  The first day was celebrated at Dara's parents' home with the traditional Cambodian ceremonies condensed into one very full day.  Each ceremony meant a different dress for the bride.  So hold your breath and get prepare yourself for some mega bling and waves of colour.

The families had covered every available space with food for guests to fill their plates and bowls throughout the afternoon.  THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE.  Nothing like traditional home cooked food... nothing.  There was a relaxed atmosphere and it felt like the whole town had showed up.  It wasn't just okay, it was expected that everyone mill about, feeling free to take a little food and social break between the ceremonies.  It felt a lot more relaxed than any church wedding I have been to.  Definitely not as laid back as some of the small outdoor weddings.  It was a great mix.  Super comfortable and I certainly felt like a part of the family.   Needless to say, it was amazing, like no other wedding I have ever experienced.

Congratulations guys!  Thank you for "inviting" me and the family to celebrate with you and all your loved ones!

Truly one of the most memorable weddings to this date!

Love you guys!

Miss Colbie

Knock and the door shall be opened.  A new door has just been opened for your furry friends!  Piya & Pav got hitched last August and I  was hired to help decorate for their  Mendhi night prior to the wedding.  Our Back to School session caught Piya's eye and though she does not yet have little ones of her own, she and Pav have another little creature that brings them crazy amounts of joy: Colbie!!!    Would I do a similar session for you?  HELL YES...

The biggest issue with doing Colbie was how on earth were we going to narrow it down to 4 photos for the final framed print!  Playful and sweet, there are seriously far too many to choose from!  This is just tip of the iceberg...

As if this session could not have gone any better, I left Pav & Piya to choose their favourites in my office while I played with Colbie.  Well, she found a balloon and lost her mind.  The contrast between the bright yellow balloon with her black & white fur caused me to also lose my mind at which point the camera came back out.  GOLD.  SOLID GOLD.   GOD, how I love it when things fall together...

Stay tuned for the handsome feline that came for his session the following night!

Life's a Beach and then It's FALL!

We've had a really great run this summer.  I'm positive that we hit our beach time record this year!  We started early and to be honest, it's not over!  After The Wards beach session in July, I did a lovely overcast evening with beauty queens Vicky & Paige.  I can only post this one photo for the time being so stay tuned!

We just did a double nighter last week.  Wednesday, we joined some friends for what was probably one of the best beach evenings all summer.  An impromptu invite I am so happy I accepted as these photos warm me up from the inside out.  How lovely and how different the light and colours are at the end of summer than they are from the first days of summer...

Our Wednesday evening was a great prep day for Thursday's Beach Session with the Oldhams!  Since we had not been to the beach for quite a few weeks, I needed to get reacquainted with the sunset at it's new bedtime.

How lucky we have been to have a few extra days of these dreamy Late Summer evenings before Fall takes over full-time.

But, that's not all, no that is not all.  We've got our schedule on flex-mode to squeeze in two more "summer" beach sessions with The Gutersons and The Antonenkos!   We can hope for a little sun, but truth be told, as seen in Vicky & Paige's photo, overcast skies really do offer beautiful colouring for a more cozy feel.

THAT SAID, we are open for FALL SESSIONS!    Layer up with your favourite scarf and that new sweater you just bought, bring your sweetheart, bring your friends, bring your family, and update your home, office and desktop with some new beautiful photos of you with the people you love the most!

A Good Oldham Time

The latest though hopefully not the last of our sunny Beach Sessions before we break out the cozy sweaters and wooly scarves for Fall.  Tracey is probably one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet, and as you can see, also probably one of the prettiest.  I literally feel like I am in the presence of a princess when I'm around her, even when it's at Strong Start and she's got both her little men in her arms!  After a few reschedules, we finally managed to get together for this yummy Family Session!

A few favourites from my beautiful evening at Centennial Beach with the Oldhams.

MIKE + RYAN

WOW.  So it's been just over 2 months since our sneak peek of Mike & Ryan's Pemberton wedding.  My first real wedding for The Pauhaus as well as our first time camping as a family!  It was an unforgettable weekend with some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Thank you Mike & Ryan for allowing us to be part of your special day!
Congratulations on finding true love and we look forward to getting together for dinner and hang outs in the Fall!

Enjoy!
