Party like it's 1994

Just a few goodies from last weekend's 20 Year Reunion at River Rock Casino with the kids from Delta Secondary School!

Our 10 year reunion was a little sad, and after seeing these cats have such a great night, I think I will definitely try to put something together for our 20 year… or why wait, let's make it a 15 year reunion!

Thanks to Sir Rob Lowe of Stir Coffee in Ladner for letting me a be a part of the party!

2014 Harvest Festival

October is here and Fall is in full swing with Thanksgiving around the corner this weekend!  The Annual Harvest Festival here in Ladner celebrated its second year running a few weeks ago after 2013's successful first year.  The Delta Firefighter's Charitable Society held its fundraiser at Greystone Stables, inviting the community to celebrate the harvest season while raising money for local charities and organizations in need

I had only heard about last year's Festival and was so excited when I was hired on to capture the evening's festivities.  Guests signed in at the front and were greeted by handsome firefighter's serving appetizers.  There were many ways of helping to raise money including a 50/50 draw, a Silent Auction, a mini Casino and mechanical bull!

Gigglebooth's hilarious photo booth provided additional entertainment

It's confirmed.  Next year when i am no longer pregnant, I will be giving this bull a ride!

The Joe Fernandes band played country tunes all night while guests danced

Can't wait for next year's fundraiser!

The 3rd Annual Devun Walsh Charity Classic

Down at Delta's golf course Kings Links by the Sea, legendary snowboarder Devun Walsh hosted The 3rd Annual Devun Walsh Charity Classic Golf Tournament.  With help from The KNOWSHOW, DC Shoes and The Source along with generous support from brand partners, local business associates and friends, the event was a success!  Over $10,000 was raised for Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

Each participant registers for a full day that includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch, dinner, refreshments, prizing and a shuttle to and from downtown Vancouver.

The Silent auction included amazing swag, everything from craft beers and wines to skateboarding and snowboarding gear, travel and camping gear, apparel, fine dining for two, a pretty stellar piece of art: a portrait of everyone's favourite actor, Bill Murray, and much more!

Many of the 90+ attendees participated in the Glass Breaking contest on the Driving Range

The guys took a break from their hard work for some beers and BBQ burgers.

Thank you to the boys at El Furniture Warehouse for the best burger this pregnant body has had all summer!

20 Teams grabbed their carts and headed off to their starting hole

The energy was fantastic.  I was mistaken for thinking golf was boring, these guys were having a riot and all in the name of giving back generously!

The Registration Tent was rearranged for dinner and what event wouldn't be complete without some lovely flowers from the girls at Our Little Flower Company from right here in Delta!

Everyone piled their plates and sat down to enjoy the evening's festivities.

I can't think of a better way to wind down summer than with a bunch of dudes raising money for a good cause… and having an absolute blast!

The Dente Princes

Better late than never, I invited Maria and her family out to Centennial to fulfill my end of the bargain from last year's head shaving: mini session for anyone who donated $200+ for the Change Your Hair Change Your Life Fundraiser.  Had a riot with these three naughty but very handsome scoundrels.

Marcellus, Alessandro and Little Ilario below.

I can't believe it's been yet another year since last year's end of summer light: so beautiful, milky and full of lively colour.

Thank you once again to the Dentes for their generous donation that helped make last year's fundraiser such a success.

2014 Reader's Choice Awards

Yes, I know.  Damn, that's a big photo of her face  I share it because it is not often these days that I'm feeling anything other than nauseous, exhausted and beat down with headaches with this pregnancy.  Looking nice is very far down the list of priorities so I figured I'd snap a photo of me feeling pretty damn good about myself.  Also, it's a portrait... and I just happened to have won this The Delta Optimist's Reader's Choice Award for best Portrait Photography second year in a row!!!  Not too shabby for a selfie.

My sweetheart Mr. O'Brien escorted me to the reception.  For all the time and muscle he has put in to making things happen behind the scenes, I felt he was reasonably deserving.

We sat outside on the patio where I thoroughly enjoyed my pregnancy plate of goods with the other winners of Ladner & Tsawwassen.  The cherry on top of the lovely evening was that Cait was working in the next room and brought me a personal bowl of hot crispy french fries to munch on while waiting to be called up.  French Fries have been the Number 1 craving this pregnancy, so yeah, I was pretty darn stoked about that.

A million thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the ballot forms!  A special thanks to all the parents that sometimes don't have enough time to take a shower and took the 15 minutes to fill out 25 of their favourite places and services in our small town.  Thank you for all the love, support and kindness over the past couple of years, I wouldn't be here without you!
