The Reid Family

I love this session.

In a world where it feels like darkness is infiltrating and spreading it's way through our safe spaces, we must look for the helpers, for it is they who shine a guiding light on the path towards hope.  They need not be heroes on the news, they are often people in our community that spread love and light on a daily basis through random acts of kindness.  I am always so thankful for all the clients-turned-friends that support me in the variety of creative services I provide, but I gotta say, Megan has been a recent stand-out not just as a truly supportive client but also as someone who goes the extra mile with gratitude and kindness.  Arriving at my home to pick up her daughters' forgotten jean jackets from the session, I was gifted a bouquet, wine and a thoughtfully written thank you.  I do my best to spread kindness in my own way, but the lasting impact of this recent act of giving has me inspired to try to give just a little more.

Enjoy a few select favourites from their Fall Mini Session!

In Bloom: School House Farm

It is mid-May and these sunny days are still far and few between.  Like a sunflower, I find myself following and reaching out to absorb the sun's warmth whenever we get a sunny day or even a few peeks of sun in and out of these moody weather spells.  It's been insufferable, but despite the sun's absence, Spring has still managed to bring about life and colour to cheer us all up.  School House Farm has been toiling to get new things growing for the local community and anyone venturing from beyond South Delta.  Beautifully colored eggs from happy roaming chickens are gathered and washed lovingly for the regulars.  Emily's first test of florals were such a hit, I think everyone is already dancing around for when she grows an army for next Spring.  Fields are being tilled and herbs and veggies are sprouting in their newly built greenhouses.  Easter's chicks have doubled in size and will be joining the rest of the gang soon enough.  So much life and beauty in this wide open space, the future holds much for this little gem.

The Ladner Village Market is just around the corner.  Looking forward to see these guys reap what they sow this coming Summer.

The Hasties

There are no words to describe just how proud I am of my amazing friend, Emily.  Over the past couple of years, I've listened to her speak passionately on numerous occasions of her dreams and goals on the farm.  There has never been a doubt in my mind that she could not achieve any of the things on her growing list, it has basically been a waiting game as she began paving her way.  I've seen her spread at her thinnest: working tirelessly with her chickens and crops, taking care of her family including an exchange student and a friend in need, working her part-time job (consisting of multiple graveyard shifts in a row, no less...), to finally see her momentum up brings me so much joy.  You reap what you sow, and all this girl serves up is love.  Thanks to everyone who has made the time to come out to Schoolhouse Farm over the past couple of weeks to support this lady with a heart of gold.

In celebration of her massive crop of sunflowers, a session was definitely a must...

Hastie 34 | A Collect + Cultivate Party

Nothing kicks off the anticipation and excitement of the coming summer like a party at The Farm.  We had a party to celebrate Mike's Birthday, organized and hosted by his fabulous earth-mother wife, Emily of Collect + Cultivate.  There isn't really much to say other than IT WAS PERFECT.  The weather was gorgeous, we had an abundance of delicious homemade food and drinks, a skateboarding ramp, multiple forms of entertainment for the kids (trampoline, playhouse, OPEN SPACE TO RUN AROUND), the firepit, and late night churros...

A few faves from our fantastic evening

Happy Birthday Mike!

Thank you to Em for hosting yet another incredible party!

Project Bloom 2015

It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since Project Bloom 2013!  This year I was in charge of hosting the Photobooth.  The backdrop was a collaboration between Our Little Flower Company and myself which turned out absolutely perfect!

A very well-behaved Little Malcolm joined me and the 150+ guests in the festivities.  Laughter, tears and delicious food were enjoyed by all!
