There are no words for the joy I feel when I think of this human.

Talent, heart, style, fight, and the same teenage boy humour seeping out of the cracks of her professional façade. I've been inspired by Lyndsay for a very long time. She was in some random class with me back in 2006-2007 when we were at Emily Carr. She did some sort of music piece. I recognized her again in Real Weddings magazine and so began the creeping until our friendship blossomed into what it is today.

To have been a single ribbon woven into the fabric of her life is a humbling honour. To have someone I admire so much trust me with photographing her family, her work, her scary face-off with breast cancer and now her book launch is one of my greatest joys in my life. I don't know how she does what she does and I tell her this often. I admire how she maintains her genuine awesome self, how she has stayed grounded and ever dedicated to her family and friends. I admire her honesty and I have forever been touched by the consistent messages of support and laughter I receive from her.

The making of this book is such a huge achievement. I am so damn proud of this woman and all she has been through. I am thankful for her life everyday as I scroll through her feeds, knowing how precious this life is. I am so thankful she is still here with us to spread her creativity and her laughter.

You are a shining star, Lyndsay, and I wish you a long joyful life of continued success!

Maxwell's New Showroom

Certainly the greatest perk of this job is meeting so many new people, so many people in industries you know nothing about where you get the opportunity to widen that horizon and learn new things. The family here at Maxwell Fabrics is a very tight-knit group of really lovely and warm human beings. They recently moved into a new Showroom and I was called in through a friend to mingle and capture the celebration of their new space.

The end of the year included a few events out in the city. It was a great opportunity to shoot in new spaces and escape the bubble of Tsawwassen. I arrived early to set up, enjoyed a nice chat with Lindsay Elliott in her cozy office, and arrived back to find that my buddy Mike from our ECIAD days, works for this company! It was a lovely surprise to catch up with him and his husband Ryan before photographing the evening. Harvest Fest 2017

Oh, Harvest Fest, how I looked forward to you every year! The fire fighters serving canapes, the strung lights, the generosity of the raffles prizes, the abundance of delicious food, and of course the mechanical bull. It is such an incredibly fun event, but beyond the fun is the Delta Firefighter's heartfelt cause to support the Delta R.E.A.C.H. Childhood and Youth Program that has been in place since 1959. This year's cause:

Our primary beneficiary for this year is Delta Reach Child and Youth Development Society. Harvest Festival will raise money to help them finalize their Capital Campaign to raise money to complete a Child Development Centre in the heart of Delta.

Since 1959 Reach Society has been making a difference in the lives of children with special needs and their families. Building a child development centre in the heart of the community will give more children at all stages of childhood better access to the critical services they need, and link families to other community services more efficiently and effectively.

The new Reach Centre replaces Ladner Kinsmen House at 47th avenue and neighbours the Ladner Pioneer Library, Memorial park, Delta Secondary School, Ladner Community Centre and other community services, creating a network of community supports working together to benefit children of all ages and their families..

I love being part of this small community where everyone knows each other and is always willing to provide support where it is needed. This event is just once terrific example of how much we can do as a community when we all pitch in.
