Myla Rose turns 4

These pictures bring me so much joy.  I am so happy to have the Houstons back home from Europe after 3-4 long years of following their travels on Instagram.  We celebrated with a backyard birthday BBQ party for Miss Myla Rose and her close friends and family.  My Houstons cup has been so empty for so long that having it filled with their presence and so many familiar faces just had my cup overflowing, my blown out candle was lit (and truthfully so was I on Root Beer Vodka) and it was like being given the chance to relive my youth again.

Happy Birthday Myla!!!!

WELCOME LOGAN!

I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of this Newborn Session although it really makes my heart ache that I did not my own done when Moses + Chloe were the same age.  SIGH.  I first met Stephanie, Dylan, and Jack last Summer for a Beach Session, gifted to them by my oldtimey LFA classmate, Danielle.  I swear the world gets smaller and my circles get tighter as I get older.  9 months later, young Jack is walking, talking, jumping and kissing his teeny tiny brother Logan.  I am so in love with how this session turned out and I am excited for them to look back in 8 years and recall what these early days were like.

Congratulations once again on your newest addition and a huge thank you for allowing me to help tell your family's story

Family Feels

A large part of my job satisfaction is from my need to connect with others.  The majority of people I get to photograph are friends, acquatinaces or friends of friends, or families of friends.  I connected with Shanti through the sister of a fellow Emily Carr grad whom I haven't seen since graduation, but have kept in touch through social media.  I love to photograph families in their natural habitat, it's all about capturing their true relationship with one another, finding those moments of connection and bonding.  The years fly by and it is a gift to be able to look back and see our old selves and measure our growth, to recognize the familiar bond between siblings and nod at how nothing has changed or perhaps nudges us to give them a call and reconnect.

A few from my latest family session...

Art Club 2017 Wrap Up!

I can't tell you how crazy it is to direct these classes and try to get some good shots at the same time!  I managed to get a few here and there, mostly the second week when I was feeling a little more comfortable and in my groove.  Will try to create a larger gallery under our Art Club section, but in the meantime, here are some snippets from Art Club 2017!

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and my sincerest apologies to those I had to turn away for lack of space!  I am definitely planning to host more classes in the coming months including some for adults as well.  I am so thrilled with the amount of response I received this year and equally stoked on how all the projects turned out.  I love love love observing the unique perspectives and talents from young creatives and it is such a gift to see how proud they are of their work in the end.  Thank You to everyone!  I look forward to seeing your faces and many new ones with the warmer weather!
