Family Sunset with The Toigos

These Tsawwassen sunsets are killer and make for some delicious memories.  Headed out to The Bluff side of our little town to capture a sweet little family session with The Toigo family.  Little Jack stayed up past his bed time to practice his legs on the rocky shore and to get some quality time with his Mom and Dad before the arrival of number two, due to arrive next Spring!

A few favourites from this beautiful evening...

Family Bike Rides

Finally getting a bike for my birthday this year has changed everything!   Family bike rides have filled many of our summer evenings, bringing more happiness than I could have imagined.  The simple things.  They are so good.  One of the top things on my bucket list for this summer was to ride the dike to Centennial Beach.  CHECK!  It was easier and quicker than I had expected and we got to enjoy about an hour of warm shallow ocean water before heading back home again.  We made our second attempt the other night but ended up detouring to a new little spot along the way.  I'm so glad I brought my camera with me for this beautiful evening.  These are evenings I definitely never want to forget.

Summer, you have gone by too too fast this year

The Wozny Clan

I love living on the Canadian West Coast.  It may not be lined with palm trees and sunny all year round like our neighbours to the South, but I'm ok with that.  I love being able to transition through all four of our seasons.  To marvel at the explosion of cherry blossom season in the Spring just before we really start pining for those hot August evenings on the patio with friends, only to find ourselves secretly missing cozy sweaters, that favourite scarf and the unforgettable joy of a hot drink on a crisp Fall afternoon…  Our beaches are just as beautiful in the cold months as they are during the summer months and it is clear that the Wozny crew share the same sentiment with a beach house to call home.

We met with Christy and her boys a few weeks back in a more intimate family session and once again here with the rest of their growing family!

It's a beautiful life

Beach Bump with Lindsay Elliott

There is a baby inside of me .  My third delicious pie-to-be, baking to perfection within the confines of my body and soul.  There is so much mystery surrounding a pregnancy, so many curiosities and questions that feel like they will never be answered...

And then they arrive.  A few weeks early or a few days late, they finally arrive.  They take in their first breath of air and proceed to try out their tiny little lungs.

I'm stuck in the mystery.  I look at Moses and Chloe, 5 and 4, and feel like I have known them my whole life.  Their personalities, once a tightly wrapped up present, now so obvious and fitting.  Their physical attributes that continue to gradually morph as they grow older year after year now make me wonder even more what will this third one look like?!!!  It's a little different with interracial kids because the range is much broader.  The gradations of skin tone to the possibility of black hair, Moses' thick dark mousy brown mop, or Chloe's borderline blonde loose tresses… the possibilities are endless!

I vowed that if I had a third child that I would take tonnes of photos since I hardly have any at all with my first 2 pregnancies.  I have kept that promise, even if it is me posing on my bed in front of my mirror while one of the kids stands and repeatedly presses the camera button.  I had my first maternity session over the weekend with my good friend and talented photographer Lindsay Elliott.  It was a bit of a collab.  I sent photos of ideas I was hoping to get as well as scoping out the light at different locations out here at Centennial beach.  She got everything I wanted.

One of the ideas I had was to be right in the water wearing some sort of loose and sheer drapery.  I was over the moon when my girlfriend and talented seamstress Joanna Delaney offered to help me out with putting something together in between her busy schedule of wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses.

So thankful that after a few days of rain, the afternoon's hot sun managed to warm the water up to a very pleasant temperature!

I love this.

Oh, Little One, who will you turn out to be?

Sometimes I wish I were more academic rather than creative, but on days like this where I can collaborate with other like-minded creators and talents, I know I got the better deal.

Alright.  It is off to bed with me and this belly...

Down by the Bay…

It's been a long time waiting for this beautiful milky end-of-summer light and I'm so thrilled to have captured this light with Shannen and her crew of beauties.  Shannen contacted me almost a year ago, having seen my work through a mutual friend.  Turns out, she also attended the same highshcool as one of my very best friends.  It's a small world after all….

A few of my favourites below from last week's session at Centennial Beach, Boundary Bay

I've got a handful of these with her face in focus
but I am hopelessly in love with the blurred one

Possibly one of my Top 10 Faves of the year

The most beautiful backdrop for the loveliest little family
